Single-use items keep treatments safe. At both clinics, our recycling partnership keeps 95% of them out of landfill.
Medical aesthetics has a waste problem that safety rules make hard to avoid. We decided to deal with it rather than look away.
Why sustainability matters in our industry
Safety regulations require single-use items for many treatments, from microneedling to laser procedures. They protect clients from cross-contamination. Until recently, almost all of them went straight to landfill.
Specialised recycling programmes now make it possible to keep strict safety standards while dramatically reducing that waste. That is the route we have taken.
Our partnership with Green Circle Salons
Skinholic has partnered with Green Circle Salons, a specialised recycling organisation, to divert 95% of our single-use disposable products from landfill. That includes:
- Treatment applicators and tools
- Protective packaging materials
- Disposable linens and covers
- Single-use containers and bottles
- Protective equipment and barriers
The $2.95 sustainability fee
Since September 1, 2025, a $2.95 sustainability fee has been added to services at our clinics. It directly funds the recycling partnership and covers:
- Collection and transportation of recyclable materials
- Specialised processing of used supplies
- Investment in more sustainable product alternatives
- The added cost of eco-friendly treatment supplies
Beyond recycling
Recycling is the cornerstone, but not the whole plan. We have moved to LED lighting and energy-efficient equipment, we keep documentation digital wherever we can, and we look for sustainable alternatives when we choose products and suppliers.
Where we are heading
This programme is the first phase of a longer plan. Our goals include:
- Working towards carbon neutrality
- Partnering with manufacturers on more sustainable packaging
- Educating clients about sustainable beauty practices
- Expanding recycling to additional waste streams

No. Single-use items are still used once and then sent for specialised recycling instead of landfill. The programme actually adds tracking of disposables, which is an extra check.
Yes, both clinics take part in the programme and apply the fee. If you have a question about how it appears on your bill, ask the clinic you visit.
They are sorted and processed by our recycling partner and turned into raw material for new products, instead of sitting in landfill.
